3D motion controller from ITRI

The 3D motion controller uses the same technology as the ultrasonic controller, but has 3D positioning capabilities. It can detect where your finger is (as long as it is above the controller and not in any other …place). The controller can sense when you prod forward as if pushing a button and also tracks the movement as you swirl your finger about. The game on display shows an Asteroid type game where the user is bashing the asteroids using his finger as the joystick. Other uses that spring to mind  for this device could include the Adult entertainment industry, although that is merely speculation. If you have some ideas and would like to share them, feel free to leave a message. We will forward the noteworthy ones to the manufacturers.

Hands free Ultrasonic Controller for TV and PC from ITRI

The Ultrasonic controller is preprogrammed to accept commands from your hand moving over the sensor. The device has several variables that can be preprogrammed to do certain things. The sweeping can be either from left to right, or from right to left, or by simply holding your fingers above the right, middle or left side to simulate a click selection. The hardware and software combination is still in its early stages and needs to be calibrated to each specific user. This kind of hands free solution brings us one step close to Minority report computer interaction. Probably the first implementation will be for games and game consoles. If you have any thoughts or ideas, please share them with us and we will be sure to pass them along to the manufacturers.

Video and picture buttons for TV lovers

Well Buying Industrial Co. Ltd has designed LED buttons that can display over 1000 pictures, or a short video of about 40 seconds in length which fills the 32GB flash storage. All the accessories needed to add the pictures and video are supplied when you purchase one.

Look out for interactive slot machines playing snap shots of previous winners, or vending machines with active advertisements for each product per button. The visual selection of products, people, items is a great step forward from the dull button of ages past, or the big red one depicting some kind of warning. Now you can have the warning displaying exactly the consequences of pressing. No longer will evil villains want to open Pandora’s Box, because everything will be on visual display. Something else that comes to mind is using such buttons for electronic locks. Match a profile picture with for example a fingerprint scanner, its all a matter of pressing the button until your face comes up and then scanning your finger. If you do it with any one else’s face displaying, then the match is not made and the item will remain closed.
Share with your friends and if you have some suggestions, please feel free to leave a note and we will forward the best ideas on to the company.

Anti reflective coating for TV and PC monitors from BothHarvest

Anti reflective cover protector from BothHarvest company . The AR coating prevents even the brightest of conditions from spoiling a crystal clear view of your monitor. This innovative transparency is applied to the monitor as a protective layer and prevents glare from upsetting your view.  Additional protective coatings include spill proof layers that ensure liquid is repelled from the lens surface as if it was never there. Usually the water droplets would disperse on the screen leaving a trail of wet droplets, but when water droplets are applied to the protective layer, they slip completely off as if they were never there. BothHarvest is a Taiwanese company displaying their wares at the recent Taitronics trade fair, held in Taipei, Taiwan.

The front of the box has a clear plastic face where the product can be seen. Let’s open it up.:
we have the Sports Recorder, with attached keychain. This is important because the gadget can only work when it is outdoors. It communicates with satellites and needs to communicate with at least three satellites to be able to have an accurate plot point. The frequency of the plotting can be set to once every second, or once every 5 seconds. It all depends on your activity.
Looking further, we have the manual, a Support CD, and this very orange armband which you saw me wearing earlier.
It’s made of neoprene, so it is not affected by sweat, while at the same time it holds the device securely to your arm or leg while you are moving about.
It also has a USB cable for connecting with your Computer, and a car cigarette lighter charger.
I also want to mention that it has Bluetooth connectivity, so it means you can upload data directly to your PDA, your notebook or your home PC through Bluetooth, making this extremely versatile and convenient for people on the go.
Now I’m going to show you how it works:
I take the Sports Recorder and download my route to my notebook like so..
I open the QSport software by double clicking here, and it opens up, make sure the Bluetooth connection is on in the notebook, also make sure your profile is correctly updated. When you install the software you will be required to enter all your personal information like height, weight and date of birth. The program, then projects where you are in terms of your health.
Lucky for me, I am still within normal limits for my age and height. But I am this way because I follow my plan every day. You can too.
The program allows you to put in your goal weight and how long you want to take to get there. It will then assist you to plan the routine that’s best for you.
On the calendar view, I get to see if I am sticking to my schedule or not. The happy face or sad face encourages me to improve. A really cool function is that the data is mapped out on the activities view and I can see exactly the route I took, the height above sea level and the amount of times I stopped. I can also link this tracking information to any photos I took for geotagging options.
The QSport software is very immersive and has a lot of useful and interesting information to help you attain your desired fitness level and weight.
