New TouchBIOS from Gigabyte enables touch screen options for the BIOS options on Z68 platforms. The latest developments allow Intel’s smart response drivers to be set up in a couple of minutes allowing IDE to RAID options in a few easy steps.

The Intel Z68 format allows transcoding from your tablet or smart phone, to assist with CPU intensive tasks that can be shared. In addition, the board supports Lucid virtue technology allowing both discrete and integrated graphics to enhance one another, and to save power, you may turn off the discrete card as needed. In addition, Gigabyte have added in a micro-SSD slot for MSATA – which supports Intels smart response technology where a small capacity SSD drive can act essentially as a L4 cache, giving a system wide performance boost. The AMD 900 platform enables on-CPU enabled graphics for Direct X 11 support and ensures support for Crossfire or SLI as well as Bulldozer 8 core CPUs when they launch.

Gigabyte features their Motherboard hardware for us, starting with the X58-OC, designed by HiCookie. G1- Assassin has 4x graphics support, a 20k2 graphics card chip onboard, extreme audio components for the best sounds as well as networking solutions that are the best in their class in the world today. The G1-Sniper has Creative sound onboard and G1-Gorilla has the Creative sound software enhancements.

Intel Motherboard with the Z68 chipset has an extra graphics processing component that can enhance the speed of graphics intensive tasks. The Z68-based motherboard uses software to improve both 2D and 3D transcoding. In addition, the platform allows a SSD “L4″ cache which improves the throughput of huge packets of data processing.

Vapor gives more details about how they achieved the win at the GoOC over some stiff competition from the Swedish and Australian competitors.
However at the end the USA team took the lead and managed to shrug off all contenders.

Team USA won this years GoOC finals in Taipei, Taiwan. Charles aka Fugger and Eric aka Vapor took an i7 975 and 2 GTX 260 VGAs in SLI to 5.5Ghz CPU clock speed on Liquid Nitrogen.

Colin Brix from Gigabyte emphisises the value of working with overclockers and also explains why events like the GOOC help Gigabyte create better motherboards. He believes Gigabyte has a real advantage working hand in hand with the enthusiast community in creating the ultimate motherboards.

Gigabyte recently invited a group of overclockers to their HQ in Taipei. The OC experts were from South Africa, Australia and Singapore. The event results helped fashion the GA-E58 series of motherboards.

Overclocking is a growing and thriving pastime, with more and more companies like Gigabyte supporting these high-end enthusiasts with more events and bigger prizes.
