Media players allow users to play video files that are saved on computers or other memory storage devices directly to the TV screen. The unique shape is unusual, and quite attractive, making it stand out from the plethora of similar devices available on the market. The HDMI connector is also a big plus. Areca showed us a prototype based on the new Marvell 6GB/s SATA/SAS controller. They will launch a whole new series based on this controller in early 2010, which they expect to MORE than double(!) the performance of their existing series. They also mention that they are working on SSD improved firmware updates for their existing series!
